Recent Day Out At Blacktoft Sands and North Cave Nature Reserves

 Great day out recently at Blacktoft and North Cave nature reserves. Blacktailed Godwits were still in their summer plumage.Greenshank and Ruff were also looking good. We noticed the broken lower break of the curlew didn't stop it from feeding. Little Grebes are now in their winter coat but were good to watch close up at North Cave in splendid light. A good day out.

A few Days in Wales!

Had a few days at Borth last week - Visited all my usual haunts!

On the way down I stopped at Llyn Coed Y Dinas
Just the usual & a Couple of Common Sandpipers knocking about, but the Blue streaks were chasing each other around.

Ynslas - Quite a lot of moving Pied Wagtails, Meadow Pipits & some Wheatears on my first visit to a Car Park where I go looking for Migrants.

Second Visit was just a few Wag's & a few more Wheatears, So I patrolled around slowly with "Rocket Launcher" sticking out of the window finding the one that doesn't mind you getting close. Some funny looks were sent my way with big lens protruding!

Got plenty of shots of this Wheatear feeding & watching me with curiosity!

 

Gigrin - Of course I went over to Rhayader for the Kites, & whatever else was about.

First day was a bit cloudy, only around feeding time - but you just have to go for it!

Second Visit was a Cracking sunny day, just the odd cloud passing by the Sun.

First You have to watch your back - constantly!

 

  Then you have to react Quick like!

 Then you have to work out where you are now.

 

This one was intent on making the Branch shorter?

 

I had decided to make an effort to try & get the Buzzards & not be totally blinkered to Kite shots this time.

Just a quick shot to give you an idea how many are around - this is just a portion of one tree - during a quiet spell, there was around 50-60 just in this clump of trees, lurking waiting for the next round.
