Had a few days in Southern Scotland but spent most of the time in Northumberland last week.
On the way up due to early start & great weather I took trip 1 out to Inner Farne.
Unfortunately I had to endure once again the chitty chat about their history - BUT, this does include a peek at the far Islands & the Seal colony.

Lots of Eider were lurking around too.
I managed to catch a Guillemot Squadron flyby!
Gull following us over.
Then it was onto the Island for a few hours.
Up to the Lighthouse as we were the first on - & see what's about. You can always tell the first timers here as they all have to back off as they have the wrong lenses for the "macro work" required for the close nesting birds! (I am not joking)
Caught some Swallows in a nearby puddle picking up mud for their nests.
At this point I took the camera off my 500mm & whacked the 50mm lens on & went for the close ups.
Shags were right behind the wires.
Razorbill
Kittiwake.
& Guillemot not much further away.
Back on the 500mm & get cracking on some nearby Puffins.
Are you sure I can fly with these things?
Leap of faith about to be taken!
These shots of stationary stuff don't cut it for me anymore & it's flight shots I come for so, I found a decent spot, sat down & went for it.
A few Puffins in flight.
I grabbed a few other morsels as they were noticed!
A few Gull shots.
Razorbill.
Guillemot.
Shag.
Kittiwake with nest material.
BH Gull with his glasses on!
Here's an interesting one - With Question for those clever clogs.
I was watching a squabble between 3 Guillemots (originally) & captured this one on left telling off the one on the right - like he cared!
There is something interesting I noticed in the picture I hadn't spotted at the time, making one of these birds Special! Do you know what it is?
Very nice Barrygood mix & i like the flight shots.Looks like you had a good time & weather.
ReplyDeleteGreat flight shots of the Puffins.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! did you spot the Bridled Guillemot? The next Puffin lot should be better as the wind was different & the light was more from behind me & not them!
